A sunset across the bay, a shared table beneath the trees, the simple pleasure of time together: romance in Bali often lives in moments like these. At Balquisse Heritage Hotel, evenings invite couples to enjoy the intimacy of a garden retreat and the beauty of Jimbaran Bay close by.
For those exploring romantic places to stay in Bali, the most memorable moments often arrive in the gentlest ways: a conversation that carries into the evening, dinner by candlelight, the warmth of the tropical air.

Paths wind through the gardens past frangipani and carved timber to sunlit verandas, while warm breezes move gently through the foliage around you. There are four pools within the grounds. Each one is an inviting place to linger together.
As the afternoon light settles over the gardens, enjoy tea, a swim or a cocktail as the sky changes colour. Each evening brings the glow of a bonfire; on Sundays, an outdoor film offers another way to share the night. The pleasure lies in choosing how the hours unfold.
On Thursdays, Balinese dance offers a graceful expression of the island’s living culture to enjoy side by side.
No two of Balquisse Heritage Hotel’s 21 rooms are alike. Traditional Javanese teak houses celebrate the beauty of Indonesian craftsmanship, while other rooms open towards garden terraces or offer generous bathing spaces. Our team would be delighted to guide you towards a room that suits the way you wish to spend your time together.
Two of the rooms are Sangon and Sangitani, traditional Javanese gladak teak houses. Both were carefully dismantled in Java. They were then reassembled here in Jimbaran. Their verandas open towards the greenery.
Across the property, Zohra Boukhari’s collected interiors bring together antique furniture, carved panels, ceramics and handwoven cloth. A beautifully crafted door might find a second life as a headboard, while textiles add texture and a quiet sense of place. Bathrooms, by contrast, are contemporary. Heritage is part of the atmosphere; comfort is part of the welcome.
An afternoon at The Shaba Spa may lead naturally into dinner at Saybah Restaurant. For a special evening, discover the Indonesian rijsttafel, a generous shared dining tradition available by prior arrangement. Beyond the hotel, Jimbaran’s beachside tables offer the pleasure of freshly prepared seafood and sunset views across the bay.
Saybah Restaurant is set within the gardens. For time by the sea, the hotel offers a vintage Volkswagen or Jeep shuttle to Jimbaran Beach and back, adding a little character to the journey towards the shore.
Begin with morning yoga at The Shaba Shala, followed by breakfast among the gardens. Explore the southern coast together, or enjoy an afternoon beside the pool with a book and a little time to yourselves. These are the pleasures of a stay shaped around you.
The Shaba Shala is a two-storey yoga house. It was built in 2023 from recycled timber. Its doors and windows open towards the gardens, and lemongrass grows close by. Yoga classes are offered every day at two different times, and our team can tell you when each one takes place. A day further afield might lead to Uluwatu, where cliffs, temples and beaches line the southern coast, with the gardens to come back to as evening falls. Jimbaran Beach lies close at hand for an afternoon on the sand. Back at the hotel, there is the simpler pleasure of doing very little in the gardens. Not every hour needs a plan. You might spend one day reading and swimming, set out to explore on another, or simply stay where you are.
Time at The Shaba Spa draws on the attentive traditions of Balinese bodywork, where warm oils and a calm setting turn rest into a pleasure in itself.
Jimbaran is very much part of Bali’s everyday life, and discovering it together is one of the quiet pleasures of a stay. Traditional jukung boats belong to the view along this shore. Fishing traditions continue to shape the bay. Kedonganan market sits at the bay’s northern end. A morning visit there gives a vivid look at that working life. If you go, go gently. The market is a place of work, and visitors are guests in its community.
Around Balquisse Heritage Hotel, family compounds, temples, local food stalls and small businesses are part of a living community, and parts of the bay and nearby streets can be explored on foot. On calm days, the bay can invite a swim. Sea conditions do change, though. Always follow local advice before entering the water. When evening comes, tables are laid on the sand and the sky over the bay turns to the colours of sunset. A longer stay lets you come to know Jimbaran at other times of day, not only at sunset.
Whether you are celebrating an anniversary, a honeymoon or simply time together, we would be delighted to help you create an occasion that feels entirely your own.
